If you're an avid iPhone gamer you'll eventually find out that some large games can have problems on the device. As it turns out, many of these problems can be easily prevented. Here are some tips.

1. Restart your iPhone before running a large game. To do this you hold down the TOP button until the iPhone gives you the option to turn off your phone. The phone will prompt you at that point. It may take 10 or more seconds for the phone to power down. Once it has powered down, just count to 5 and then press the TOP button until the phone powers back on.
2. If you have run Safari (the browser) on the iPhone since you last powered it up, you may want to do the restart above. Safari does use memory (cache) so sometimes you can have less memory than a game may need.
OK, you've done all of that. You're in your favorite game and the iPhone just LOCKS UP. What do you do?
In case this happens (and it shouldn't happen very often) you hold down the HOME and the TOP button at the same time, and you hold them for as long as 15 seconds.
I have had to do this maybe 3 times since I got my 3G iPhone on the day they were first released.
More and more games are now checking memory before they run. If they suggest restarting the phone, you may want to follow that suggestion.
Have fun!
